To connect the Humminbird GPS Receiver to the NMEA 0183 accessory using the GPS NMEA Y-Cable, please follow these steps:
1. Turn off the power for the SOLIX or ONIX control head and each accessory before starting the installation.
2. Install the GPS Receiver on your boat according to the instructions provided in the GPS Receiver installation guide. Ensure that the cable is long enough to reach the control head. Refer to the GPS Receiver installation guide for more details.
3. Connect the GPS Receiver connector to the connector on the Y-Cable.
4. Locate the necessary wires on the NMEA 0183 data cable of the accessory. These wires include transmit A(+), transmit B(-), receive A(+), receive B(-), ground, and drain. Consult the accessory's user manual for specific information about the data cable.
5. Connect the Y-Cable wires to the Accessory Data Cable wires as shown in the provided table. Make sure to tape or apply heat-shrink insulation to each connection to prevent shorting the wiring.
6. If the accessory data cable does not have a drain wire, tape or apply heat-shrink insulation to the Y-Cable drain wire.
7. Route the Y-Cable to the control head.
8. Insert the Y-Cable connector into the NMEA 0183 port on the control head. The ports are labeled, and the connector is keyed to prevent incorrect installation.
9. Hand-tighten the xxxx nut to secure the connection.
10. Follow the instructions in the accessory manual to connect it to a power source.
Note: The baud rate on the SOLIX and ONIX NMEA 0183 ports defaults to Auto. If you need to select a specific baud rate, refer to your SOLIX or ONIX control head installation guide or operations guide for instructions.
