To connect the VEEPEAK OBDCheck BLE+ Car Diagnostic Code Reader Scan Tool to your phone or tablet, follow these steps:
1. Install a third-party app on your phone or tablet. Recommended apps for generic use are:
- For iOS: Car Scanner ELM OBD2 (free), OBD Fusion, DashCommand. (Note: Torque Pro on Apple App Store is not compatible!)
- For Android: Torque Lite (or paid Pro version), OBD Fusion, Car Scanner ELM OBD2.
2. Locate the OBD2 port in your vehicle and plug in the VEEPEAK device. Ensure that it fits well and the VEEPEAK device shows up on your phone's Bluetooth device list. If it doesn't, check the cigar fuse or try it on another vehicle.
3. Turn the ignition ON or start the vehicle. For vehicles with push button start, press the button once or twice without putting your foot on the brake pedal (refer to your car manual for specific instructions).
4. Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet. If you are using iOS devices, do NOT connect with "VEEPEAK" in the Bluetooth settings, as no regular Bluetooth pairing is needed. Proceed to the next step. If you are using Android, pair with the VEEPEAK device using the PIN 1234. It should become paired or connected.
5. Start the app on your phone or tablet and make the necessary connection settings. The blue light on the VEEPEAK device should start flashing. Choose Bluetooth LE for iOS and Classic Bluetooth for Android. Refer to the specific app's settings for the connection type.
Note:
- The VEEPEAK OBDCheck BLE+ Car Diagnostic Code Reader Scan Tool uses Bluetooth, not WiFi.
- A third-party app is required to use the device.
- It is recommended to unplug the device when not in use.
- Always prioritize safe driving and comply with local laws and regulations.
- Not all trouble codes can be read using OBD2, as it is primarily designed for emission-related engine diagnostics. Other systems like ABS, airbag, TPMS, etc., use proprietary protocols that can only be accessed by specific apps on certain vehicles.
