To toast bread in the Hamilton Beach 31401 Toaster Oven, follow these steps:
1. Plug the toaster oven into an electrical outlet.
2. Place the Oven Rack in the low rack position for toasting.
3. Turn the Temperature Dial to the "Broil/Toast" setting.
4. Place the bread slices on the Oven Rack.
5. Turn the Function Dial to the "Toast" setting.
6. Rotate the Timer Dial past 10 and then back to the desired toast color. A bell will sound when the toast cycle is complete.
7. Rotate the Timer Dial to the "OFF" position and unplug the toaster oven.
Note: When toasting only two slices of bread, place the bread in the center of the toasting area on the low rack position to ensure even toasting on both sides. For bagels, English muffins, and waffles, place them on the low rack position with the cut/split side facing up. Adjust the Timer Dial based on the desired color and the number of slices being toasted. If you are not satisfied with the color balance between the two sides of your food, you can try using a different rack position.
