To install the Sofucor KBS-52144 52 Inch Ceiling Fan, follow these steps:
1. Safety First: Before starting the installation, ensure that the electricity is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
2. Mounting: The fan must be mounted with a minimum of 7 ft. clearance from the trailing edge of the blades to the floor. Use a securely mounted UL Listed outlet box marked "Acceptable for Fan Support of 35 lbs. or less" to support the fan.
3. Wiring: All wiring must be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local electrical codes. It is recommended to have the electrical installation performed by a qualified licensed electrician. After making electrical connections, turn the spliced conductors upward and push them carefully into the outlet box. Spread the wires apart with the grounded conductor and the equipment-grounding conductor on one side of the outlet box.
4. Reversing Blade Direction: To reverse the blade direction, turn off the fan and stop the blades before operating the reversing switch. Do not operate the reversing switch while the fan blades are in motion.
5. Blade Installation: Remove the rubber motor stops on the bottom of the fan before installing the blades. Attach the blades to the motor using the provided screws.
6. Light Kit Installation: If using a light kit that is not packed with the fan, ensure it is UL-listed and marked suitable for use with the model fan you are installing. Refer to the instructions packaged with the light kit for proper assembly.
7. Balancing: To balance the fan blades, slide the balancing clip on the trailing edge of any blade, halfway between the holder and tip. Run the fan to check for wobble. If wobble persists, repeat the process with each blade, noting which one reduces the wobble the most. Adjust the clip in small increments away from the center of the blade until the wobble is minimized. Use adhesive-backed balancing weights on the top center of the blade if needed.
8. Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean the fan periodically using a soft brush or lint-free cloth. Do not use water, as it can damage the motor or wood and cause electrical shock. Apply a light coat of furniture polish to the wood for additional protection. The motor has permanently-lubricated sealed ball bearings, so no oiling is required.
