After completing the printing process, it is important to perform post-processing to clean and disinfect the printed design. Here are the steps recommended in the instruction manual:
1. Allow the design to drip off in the printer for 10 minutes after the printing process is completed.
2. Remove the construction platform and carefully cut off the supports from the design.
3. Clean the design in a closed container with propan-2-ol or isopropanol cleaning fluid (≥ 99%) for 5 minutes in an ultrasonic bath. Do not heat the design in the cleaning solution or leave it in the solution for a long period.
4. Use a pair of tweezers to remove the printed part from the cleaning fluid, blow it off with compressed air if necessary, and let it dry. It is recommended to dry the design in an oven at 40 °C.
5. Post-cure the design in the Otoflash G171 light curing device with 2 x 3000 flashes, turning the design between the two cycles. It is recommended to use the nitrogen (protective gas) function to minimize oxygen inhibition and improve surface and material properties. Follow the manufacturer's specifications for the device.
6. Perform manual post-processing, such as cleaning the supports and polishing with commercially available rotating instruments for plastic processing. Avoid excessive heat development during finishing and polishing to prevent inaccurate fitting after polymerization.
Note: The post-cured designs can be disinfected with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic disinfectants. Do not use heat-based methods for disinfection, as this can lead to deformations.
It is important to follow these cleaning and disinfection steps to minimize the risk of contamination and ensure the proper functioning of the splint dental resin.
