To install the Hipac Floor Mounted Door Closer with Single Swing Hinge, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the door: On the bottom side of the door, create a 300mm (L) x 30mm (W) x 20mm (D) rebate starting 60mm from the door edge and centrally located to house the sliding arm channel.
2. Install the sliding arm channel: Fit the 240mm sliding arm channel in the rebate, leaving at least 50mm to the hinge side. Secure it with two No. 10 CSK x ¼” woodscrews (not provided).
3. Install the hinge: Install the hinge to the door, but do not hang the door yet.
4. Remove the geared section: Using a 4mm Allen key, unscrew the grub xxxx in the top of the pivot point on the closer and remove the geared section.
5. Prepare the floor: Cut a 290mm x 100mm x 50mm hole into the floor to accommodate the closer housing. The hole should be central to where the door will sit and against the frame. Ensure the hole is no longer than 295mm as the cover plate is 298mm long. If the installation is happening after the frame is fitted, removing the door stop may help with the install.
6. Position the housing: Remove the closer from the housing by unscrewing the three locking screws. Place the empty housing in the hole and pack it so that it is flush with the floor, level, centrally located, 5mm in from the frame, and mounted with the two adjuster screws closest to the frame.
7. Fill with concrete: Once the housing is located properly, fill the surrounding area with quick-drying concrete.
8. Reinstall the closer: When the concrete is dry, put the closer back into the housing. Ensure the pivot is at the frame side, the plastic cover is fitted, and the closer is pushed towards the frame. Use the four adjustment screws to fine-tune the closer position, making sure the main body is flush with the floor. Position the closer centrally in relation to where the door will sit, with the black plastic cover against the frame.
9. Secure the closer: Once in position, tighten the three locking screws, ensuring they all grip the closer tightly. These screws hold the closer in position against the forces exerted by the closer.
10. Fit the sliding arm: Fit the sliding arm, ensuring it sits roughly 9˚ from parallel towards the door stop. Fix it in place with the xxxx provided in the kit.
11. Adjust the closing speed: Open the arm to roughly 90˚ in the direction the door will open, then lock the arm in place by carefully tightening the 180˚-15˚ xxxx fully clockwise. Do not use an electric driver for this step.
12. Hang the door: Mark the location of the closer arm on the closer body, then remove the closer arm. Slide the closer arm into the bottom of the door, and hang the door with a few screws to test arm clearance. Make sure there is enough clearance under the door to allow the arm to fix to the closer.
13. Reattach the closer arm: Reattach the closer arm to the closer, ensuring the arm lines up with the mark from step 12. The door should be at just less than 90˚ for this step. Fit the arm xxxx , making sure the arm is properly seated in the closer spline. Opening or closing the door will adjust the angle of the arm if it does not initially line up with the splines.
14. Adjust the closing speed (continued): Carefully unscrew the 180˚-15˚ xxxx tightened in step 11, and the door will begin to close. Do not use an electric driver for this step. This xxxx is used to set the closing speed. Do not fully unscrew it, as this may cause hydraulic fluid to leak and render the product inoperable permanently. Refer to the setup pages in the manual for the final setup method.
15. Secure the hinge: Once satisfied with the clearance and operation of the closer, fit the remaining fixing screws for the hinge.
16. Fit the cover plate: Finally, fit the cover plate and fix it with the supplied screws. The door should be held open for this step. If the door stop was removed earlier, it can now be re-fitted.
Please note that these instructions are a summary and it is important to refer to the complete instruction manual for detailed information and illustrations.
