Cleaning the Cleveland MKGL Series Gas Floor Model Vertical Mixer Kettle is essential for maintaining its performance and ensuring safe operation. Here are the cleaning instructions provided in the installation guide:
1. Turn off the unit and allow it to cool to a safe temperature before cleaning.
2. Remove the drain screen (if applicable) and wash it thoroughly with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse the screen in a sink or dishwasher.
3. Prepare a warm water and mild detergent solution in the kettle.
4. Use a nylon brush to remove any food soil from the kettle. For stubborn food that is stuck, allow it to soak at a low temperature setting.
5. Drain the unit and rinse the interior thoroughly with fresh water.
6. If the unit is equipped with a Tangent Draw-Off Valve, disassemble the valve and wash the inside of the valve body using a nylon brush. Rinse with fresh water and reassemble the valve.
7. If the unit is equipped with a Butterfly Valve, open the valve and wash it using warm water and mild detergent. Remove any food deposits with a nylon brush. Rinse with fresh water and leave the valve open when the unit is not in use.
8. Use mild soapy water and a damp sponge to wash the exterior of the unit. Rinse and dry.
It is important to note that for more difficult cleaning applications, you can use alcohol, baking soda, vinegar, or a solution of ammonia in water. Do not use detergents or cleansers that are chloride-based or contain quaternary salt. Avoid using a metal bristle brush or scraper, as it can damage the stainless steel surface. Steel wool should also never be used for cleaning stainless steel.
