According to the user manual, it is recommended to test the smoke detector weekly to ensure proper operation. To test the smoke detector, press and hold the test button for at least 5 seconds. This will cause the alarm to sound if the electronic circuitry, horn, and battery are working properly. If there is no alarm, the battery may be defective or there could be some other malfunction. Refer to the "Troubleshooting" section of the manual for a solution. It is important to note that the volume of the test signal is considerably lower than the actual alarm signal.
