To install the Quick Mount PV QM-JBX-RF01-B1 JayBox on a comp shingle roof, follow these steps:
1. Determine the optimal placement of the junction box during the system design process, considering access for servicing the PV system.
2. Choose a location that limits contact of the module back sheet under high snow loads, such as near a module frame edge.
3. Avoid installing the box directly over a rafter that interferes with the conduit coming down from the box.
4. If using the attic pass-through, place the junction box in an optimal location for access when working inside the attic space.
5. Loosen the shingle glue line at the second shingle course and insert the flashing to the V alignment marks. The flashing should not overhang the shingle.
6. Align the sealing oval of the box with the mating feature on the flashing. Secure the box to the flashing using the supplied deck screws until the junction box is pulled tight to the flashing. Do not over-tighten the screws.
7. If installing pass-through fittings, drill a clearance hole through both the box and the roofing at the desired conduit pass-through location. Use the appropriate size hole saw for the conduit fitting being used.
8. Install the conduit fitting to the bottom of the box according to the manufacturer's instructions.
9. Place the JayBox back over the flashing and secure it to the roof using self-drilling wood screws.
10. Install the wiring, conduit, and fittings according to NEC requirements and local AHJ guidance.
11. Close the lid of the junction box and fasten it with a Philips head screwdriver. Do not overtighten the lid xxxx .
