To season the Windmill TWM033 Dutch oven bread pan, follow these steps:
1. Wash the cast-iron pan in hot water and dry it thoroughly.
2. Heat a barbecue with a cover or an oven to 120 degrees Celsius (248 degrees Fahrenheit).
3. Place the pan in the oven for about 60 minutes to heat up the cast iron. This will open up the pores of the iron and allow any moisture to evaporate, preventing rust. Remember to remove the stainless steel handles before placing the pan in the oven.
4. Once the pan is hot, rub some cast iron conditioner (such as The Windmill® seasoning/cast iron conditioner - TWM090) on the surface of the cast iron using a cotton cloth. Apply a thin layer and make sure to cover both the inside and outside of the pan. For pans with wooden handles, remove the handles before placing them in the oven or barbecue.
5. Heat the pan until it reaches 160 degrees Celsius (320 degrees Fahrenheit). When the pan starts smoking, you can let it cool down.
6. Repeat steps 1-4 for at least three times. The more times you repeat this seasoning cycle, the better the cast iron will look after each cycle. Once you finish seasoning the cast iron, it is ready for use.
Note: The knobs of the BBQ pans are made of bakelite and are heat resistant up to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit).
