To connect the Sprecher + Schuh PCEC Hydraulic Series Elevator Softstarter to a motor, follow these steps:
1. Determine the motor type: The softstarter can be connected to a 6 or 12 lead Wye-Delta motor or a standard 3 or 9 lead motor.
2. Choose the control mode: The softstarter offers two control modes - LINE or INSIDE-THE-DELTA. Select the appropriate control mode based on your motor type and installation requirements.
3. Wiring: If your motor is a 6-wire installation, you can wire the softstarter inside the delta. For new or existing 3-wire motors, you can rewire the softstarter for LINE connection. Follow the wiring diagrams provided in the user manual for the specific connections.
4. Control voltage: The softstarter requires a control voltage of 120V AC 50/60Hz. Ensure that the control voltage is supplied correctly.
5. Adjustments: The softstarter features a microprocessor controller that allows for precise starting current limit adjustments. Use the dip switches and settings provided in the user manual to adjust the starting current limit and other parameters as needed.
6. Fault contactor: The softstarter includes a standard fault contactor that isolates the motor windings during a fault condition. This helps protect the motor and the softstarter. The fault contactor is controlled through the fault contact of the controller.
7. LED fault diagnostic display: The softstarter has an LED fault diagnostic display that indicates the operating status and fault conditions. Refer to the user manual for a list of fault codes and their meanings.
