According to the CRX420 Gasoline Engine Instruction Manual, you should check the engine oil level before each use of the engine. This ensures that the engine has sufficient lubrication for proper operation. To check the oil level, place the engine on a level surface, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and then reinstall it without threading the cap into the hole. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level, which should be at the top of the indicator on the dipstick. If the oil level is low, fill it to the upper limit with the recommended oil. It is important to use 4-stroke automotive detergent oil as recommended in the maintenance section of the manual.
