To install the Hipac Stainless Steel Surround, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the Surround:
- Open the packaging and locate the intumescent kit.
- Lay the surrounds face down on a soft, clean surface.
- Open the intumescent kit and remove the 10mm x 2mm grey intumescent lengths.
- Clean the surface of the surround with a degreaser.
- Remove the adhesive backing from the grey intumescent and apply it round the inner face of each surround. Start with the first strip, making it flush with the inner face, and leave a 10mm overlap at the other end. This allows the next intumescent strip to butt up against it. Repeat this process until all 4 intumescent strips are applied to each piece of the surround, creating a continuous line of intumescent around the entire inner face.
2. Prepare the Panel:
- Remove the remaining 4 white intumescent strips from the intumescent pack.
- Apply these strips to the perimeter of the panel.
3. Prepare the Door:
- Locate the fitting template.
- Tape the template to the door in the specified location, ensuring it is square with the door.
- Centre punch the centre of each fixing hole and the corners of the square.
- Either leave the template in place and work to it, or remove the template and use the centre punches as markers.
4. Assembly:
- Test the vision panel operation before fitting to ensure it is in working order.
- Place the panel into the door on the customer-specified orientation, supporting it from both sides of the door before fitting the surround.
- Fit half of the surround with the welded lugs onto the patient side of the door.
- Place the other half of the surround with the fixing holes on the other side of the corridor side.
- Insert one M5 xxxx through a top centre fitting and thread it loosely into place. Do not tighten fully at this stage.
- Insert the bottom centre fixing xxxx loosely.
- Insert and fit all other screws loosely.
- Once all fixings are threaded in place, tighten them using a hand driver. Do not use an electric driver and avoid over-tightening.
- Check the operation of the panel once the fixings are tight. If the panel jams, it may be due to over-tightened screws or an incorrect surround for the panel and door thickness configuration. In such cases, contact Hipac Healthcare at info@hipac.com.au.
- The panel should be held in place with no gap between the panel and the surround or the door and the surround.
