To remote start your vehicle using the FORTIN RM 442 Remote, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the climate controls are pre-set before leaving the vehicle.
2. Press and hold the START button on the remote for approximately 3 seconds. The remote's green LED will flash, and an ascending melody will sound to confirm.
3. Approximately 5 seconds later, the engine will crank and run for the selected runtime (default is 15 minutes).
4. If the vehicle fails to start on the first attempt, the Remote-Starter will wait 3 seconds before attempting to start the vehicle again. It will make a total of 2 attempts before giving up.
Note: On gas engines, the Remote-Starter can run the vehicle for either 15, 3, or 7 minutes. On diesel engines, it can run for 30 (default), 6, or 5 minutes.
If you have the option available, you can also remote start the vehicle using the factory key fob. Simply press the LOCK button 3 times (by default) or press LOCK-UNLOCK-LOCK to remote start the vehicle.
