To install the VELOSSA TECH 2013-2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Big Mouth Lit Kit Ram Air, you will need basic hand tools and approximately 2 hours of installation time. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Stock Components Removal: Before starting the installation, remove the bumper of your vehicle. You can search for "how to remove bumper" specific to your trim to find the appropriate instructions.
2. Install the LIT BIG MOUTH Flare (Skip this step if you purchased a full lit kit): Attach the supplied cable clip to your BIG MOUTH as shown in the instructions. Fasten the cable and provide enough slack to avoid straining the cable. If you already have a Gen 4 BIG MOUTH, remove the old flare and install the LIT flare with the 4 screws provided.
3. BIG MOUTH Installation: Remove the OEM bolt located in a specific spot as indicated in the instructions. Keep the metal tab in place, and replace the bolt with the M6 bolt included in the kit. Fasten the M6 bolt with washer through the mounting point on the BIG MOUTH, ensuring that the mounting point goes over the OEM bracket. Use the passenger side mounting hole on the BIG MOUTH to mark the hole for drilling through the sheet metal. Drill a pilot hole and then enlarge it to ¼" or 5/16" for the final hole. Install the second bolt from the back side of the sheet metal, fastening it with a washer and nut on both sides. Do not over-torque, hand tight is acceptable.
4. Big Mouth Wiring: Begin by snaking the LED wire that is clipped to the side of the BIG MOUTH behind the headlight. Mount the controller on top of the black box using the supplied double-sided tape. Plug in the LED cable into one of the four ports on the controller. The other three ports can be used for additional Diode Dynamics lighting strips (sold separately).
5. Wiring Harness: Follow the provided wiring diagram and use zip ties to wire the system as shown. Ground the two black wires as indicated. Plug in the grey main power connector and install the blade connectors to the main power switch.
6. Trimming: Use the provided trimming template to trim the OEM bumper cover. Measure 4 inches from the edge indicated on the template and line up the line with the corner in the shroud. Mark around the template and cut the cover using a cut-off wheel or router bit. Repeat this process for the second shroud, ensuring that the cut marks align. Trim any bosses that interfere with the BIG MOUTH.
7. Final Assembly Review: Before permanently fastening the bumper back on the car, inspect the levelness of the BIG MOUTH using the oversized hole drilled earlier for adjustment. Ensure that nothing is binding or causing any preload on any parts. Once fitment is confirmed, tighten all screws and ensure that the hood can close properly.
8. Phone App: Download the Diode Dynamics app and connect via Bluetooth to control the lighting. Follow the instructions in the manual to connect to the app and control the RGBW lighting.
