To install the MICHELIN M40X GSM, GSM/LTE, and GPS Positions device, please follow the instructions provided in the user manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. CAN Sensor Installation:
- Ensure the ignition is turned off before connecting the CAN clips.
- There are two types of clips: CAN (white label Sonde SCN4) and J1587 (green label Sonde SCN4). Most vehicles only require one white-labeled sensor, but some may require two white-labeled sensors or one white-labeled sensor and one green-labeled sensor.
- Open the CAN sensor by undoing the four clips.
- Locate the CAN wire pair and untwist them slightly.
- Run the wires in the correct labeled channels in the sensor, ensuring they do not cross over.
- Close the sensor, making sure not to damage or move the wires. You should hear a click. Secure the sensor with one of the included cable ties.
2. HMI (Lightbar) Installation:
- Clean the area where you plan to attach the HMI using the included alcohol wipe.
- Peel off the adhesive backing and firmly attach the HMI to the back of the lightbar.
- Position the HMI where it is clearly visible from the driver's seat, without obstructing the driver's view of the road. The central console or the dash between the steering wheel and the door are recommended positions.
- Refer to the MICHELIN Connected Fleet vehicle guides for recommended HMI positions specific to your vehicle.
3. Unit Mounting:
- The M4xx unit must be firmly secured using cable ties to a solid plastic or metal structure in the vehicle.
- Avoid mounting the unit with the connectors facing upward to prevent water ingress and condensation.
- The unit should be mounted in a safe place where it does not affect the operation of the vehicle and is not subject to dampness.
Please note that these are general installation instructions. For more detailed information and specific vehicle requirements, refer to the MICHELIN Connected Fleet user manual.
