To connect the UCM6510 series IP-PBX Phone System PRI to a T1/E1/J1 digital trunk, follow these steps:
1. Use a T1 crossover cable to connect one end to the UCM6510 T1/E1/J1 port and the other end to the T1/E1/J1 wall jack. Make sure to check if the T1 crossover cable is provided by the service provider.
2. Configure the T1 channels by accessing the UCM6510 web UI. Go to PBX Settings > Interface Settings > Digital Hardware page. Click on "Configure Digital Hardware Span Type 1" and select "T1" as the span type. Save the settings.
3. Edit the default group by clicking on "Configure Default Group 1". Modify the default group to include only the desired channels within the maximum number of channels allowed for T1, E1, or J1. In this example, channels 1-10 are configured for voice. Click on "Update" to save the settings.
4. Add a new group by clicking on "Add New Group 1". Assign the desired channels for data transmission. In this example, channels 11-23 are assigned for data. Click on "Update" to save the settings and then on "Apply Changes".
5. Configure the digital port by accessing the UCM6510 web UI. Go to PBX Settings > Interface Settings > Digital Hardware page. Click on "Configure Digital Port 1". Configure the basic settings, including span type and signaling configurations, as well as the advanced settings, such as switch type and dial plan configurations. Save the settings and apply changes.
6. Set up the digital trunk by accessing the UCM6510 web UI. Go to Extension/Trunk > Digital Trunks page. Click on "Add" to create a new digital trunk. Configure the trunk name, select the default group for this trunk, and configure other options as needed. Save the settings.
7. Apply changes by clicking on "Apply Changes" on the upper right of the web page.
8. Configure inbound and outbound routes for the digital trunk under Extension/Trunk > Inbound Routes and Extension/Trunk > Outbound Routes, respectively.
9. Check the trunk status on the System Status > Dashboard > Trunk's page. If the status shows "Available", the digital trunk is successfully configured.
