Descaling the kettle is necessary to ensure optimum performance. The frequency of descaling depends on the water hardness and boiling frequency. Here is how you can descale the kettle:
1. Make sure the appliance is unplugged from the power socket and fully cooled down before cleaning.
2. You can use a descaling agent specifically designed for kettles. Follow the instructions provided with the descaling agent carefully.
3. Alternatively, you can use vinegar. Pour 0.5 liters of white vinegar (8%) into the kettle.
4. Fill the kettle with water up to the maximum level.
5. Switch on the kettle and let it boil.
6. After boiling, empty the kettle and rinse the inner part thoroughly with clean water.
7. Repeat the rinsing process until there is no vinegar smell remaining.
Note: Never immerse the kettle or its base in water, and do not use the dishwasher for cleaning.
If you notice an increase in noise during boiling or if the kettle switches off before the water is boiled, it indicates that descaling is necessary. With soft water, descaling should be done at least once every 6 months, and with hard water, at least once every 3 months.
