To set up the Lightspeed Access Link system, follow these steps:
1. Determine the set-up location: The Access Link box is typically located near the classroom audio amplifier.
2. Plug in the power supply: Plug one end of the included 3.5mm cable into the AUDIO OUTPUT connection on the Access Link. Plug the other end into an audio input connection on the amplifier.
3. Power on the Access Link: Press the Access Link power button to power it on. When powered on, the white LED will glow.
4. Use the Flexmike microphone: Place the microphone around your neck so it is aligned with your collarbone. Press the power/mute button on the microphone. The teacher status will turn blue when the mic is active. Adjust the microphone volume using the UP/DOWN buttons on the side of the Flexmike.
5. Charge the Flexmike nightly: Place the microphone into the cradle charger. The power status light will glow red when it is charging. When charging is complete, the power status light will glow green. It takes 5-6 hours to fully charge the microphone battery.
6. Use a wireless audio link: If you want to connect a second or third microphone to your computer's USB port for a wireless 2-way audio link, follow the instructions provided in the manual. This allows audio from the computer to be played through the Lightspeed Access Link system and speakers, and ensures the teacher's microphone and any student microphones are picked up by a video conferencing solution.
7. Pairing microphones to the Access Link: The system is shipped with pre-paired microphones and base units. If you need to pair new components, follow these steps:
- Ensure the microphones are out of the charger during pairing.
- Point the microphones' IR transmitter lens toward the base unit.
- Press and hold the power button on the microphone for 5 seconds until the Mic 1 and Mic 2 lights start flashing. Release the button and let the pairing process finish.
- Confirm the pairing status: The status light on the Access Link will light up, indicating the pairing process is complete. The Mic 1 or Mic 2 light on the microphone will stay illuminated.
Note: If a microphone is out of range, it will automatically shut off after 30 minutes of trying to reconnect. To power it up again, simply press and hold the power button on the microphone once you are back in the classroom or within range.
