To set up the Lightspeed QS0598US01-3 Redcat Instructional Audio System, follow these steps:
1. Determine the set-up location: Place the Redcat within 7 feet of an electrical outlet and on a surface about 4-6 feet off the ground. Find a location away from the teacher's microphone to avoid feedback.
2. Plug in the power supply: Connect the AC power cord into the DC power supply. Insert the connector into the Redcat and plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. The Redcat will automatically power on, and the white POWER light on the front panel will glow.
3. Using the Flexmike: Remove the microphone from the charger and press the mute button to unmute. Hold the microphone near your mouth and begin speaking.
4. Align with collarbone: Ensure that the microphone is aligned with your collarbone for optimal audio capture.
5. Charging the microphones: Place the microphones into the cradle charger. The power status light will glow red when charging. Charging takes about 5-6 hours, and when complete, the power status light will glow green.
6. Pairing microphones to Redcat: The system is shipped with microphones and base units already paired. If you need to pair new components, follow these steps:
- Ensure the microphones are out of the charger.
- Point the IR transmitter lens of the microphone towards the base unit.
- Press and hold the power button on the microphone for 5 seconds until the Mic 1 and Mic 2 lights start flashing. Release the button and let the pairing process finish.
- The status light on the Redcat will glow, indicating the pairing process is complete. The Mic 1 or Mic 2 light on the microphone will stay illuminated.
7. Connecting the Redcat with optional Media Connector: Determine the location for the Media Connector, which should be connected to the primary media source in the classroom (e.g., computer or display panel).
- Connect the USB cable power cord to a computer or use the USB power adapter to plug into a wall outlet.
- Plug the USB cable into the USB input on the back of the Media Connector.
- Power on the Media Connector by connecting it to power. The white LED on the front panel will glow.
8. Connecting Media Connector to audio: You can connect audio using either digital 2-way USB audio or analog audio.
- For USB audio, if connecting to a computer, the Media Connector will default to digital USB audio. Adjust the computer sound settings to select "Lightspeed Audio" as the microphone and speaker.
- For analog audio, plug your external audio equipment into one of the audio input jacks on the Media Connector. Adjust the volume as needed.
9. Using Flexmike as a wireless audio link: You can connect an additional microphone to your computer's USB port for a wireless 2-way audio link.
- Connect the microphone to your computer using a USB-C cable.
- Open your computer sound settings and select "Lightspeed Audio" as the microphone and speaker.
