To make the electrical connections for the VERTIV NetSure IPE Series Outdoor Rectifier, follow the instructions provided in the owner's manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Ensure that all wiring and branch circuit protection follows the current edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
2. Refer to the electrical connection location diagram in Figure 4.1 of the manual to identify the connector on the bottom panel of the rectifier.
3. Use separately ordered cable assemblies with mating plugs to make the electrical connections. One end of these cable assemblies should be connected to the connector on the rectifier.
4. For rectifier ground connection, follow the grounding requirements specified in the NEC and applicable local codes. The rectifier chassis should be connected to the site grounding point using a two-hole lug.
5. For positive grounding, which is the default setting, the power system's Return (+) Bar is factory connected to the chassis PE terminal. If you choose to float the DC bus, follow the procedure provided in the manual to disconnect the cable connected to the Return (+) Bar and insulate the unconnected end.
6. For rectifier frame grounding, two M8x16 screws are located on the rectifier left side panel. Install a customer-furnished frame ground lug using these screws and connect it to the site grounding point.
7. For battery ground connection, follow the grounding requirements specified in the NEC and applicable local codes. Two M6 xxxx inserts are provided on the battery for installation of a customer-provided 2-hole frame ground lug. Connect the battery chassis to the site grounding point using this lug.
8. For nominal 120 VAC / 220 VAC / 240 VAC input power and AC input equipment grounding connections, turn off the AC input power before connecting or disconnecting the AC input plug-in connector. Use a separately ordered AC input power cable assembly with a mating plug. Connect the green lead to Ground, the white lead to Neutral, and the black lead to Line.
9. For -48 VDC output load connections, check for correct polarity before making connections. Turn off AC power and battery power before connecting or disconnecting any DC load plug-in connector. Use separately ordered DC output cable assemblies with mating plugs to connect the load. Connect the black lead to Load Return and the white lead to -48 VDC Load.
10. For external alarm and communications connections, use a separately ordered external alarm and communications cable assembly with a mating plug. Connect the cable assembly to the external alarm and communications circuits as shown in Figure 4.7. Refer to Table 4.1 for connector pin-outs.
11. For rectifier digital output (DO) dry relay contacts, refer to Table 4.2 for the function and operation state of each dry contact. The contact operation can be changed by moving the jumpers for each of the connectors to the alternate location. Follow the procedure provided in the manual to change the alarm relay configuration.
12. For 48 VDC battery connections, check for correct polarity before making connections. Turn off battery power before connecting or disconnecting the battery plug-in connector. Use a separately ordered battery cable assembly with a mating plug to connect the battery to the rectifier.
13. For battery alarm interface connections, use a separately ordered battery alarm and communications cable assembly with a mating plug. Connect the cable assembly to the battery as shown in Figure 4.11. Refer to Table 4.3 for connector pin-outs.
14. If you are using the rectifier in a batteryless installation, refer to the specific instructions provided in the manual for batteryless operation and connecting the -48 VDC output Load4 to the battery port.
Please refer to the VERTIV NetSure IPE Series Outdoor Rectifier Owner's Manual for detailed diagrams and additional information on making electrical connections.
