To install the Maxxima MEW-DM310DW 3-Way/Single Pole WiFi Smart Light Switch, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that the power is off before starting the installation.
2. Remove the existing switch by removing the wall plate and switch mounting screws. Carefully pull the switch from the wall box and identify the wires attached to the switch.
3. Identify the wiring application of the dimmer. If it is a single pole, only one switch controls one light or bundle of lights. If it is a 3-way, two switches control the same light or bundle of lights.
4. Identify the line, load, and neutral wires. The line/load wire is usually black and attached with a black xxxx . The neutral wire is usually a bundle of one or more white wires in the wall. The ground wires are usually bare copper or green.
5. Take pictures of the wiring for reference.
6. Wire the smart dimmer according to the wiring application:
- For single pole: Cap off the remaining red wire from the switch with a wire nut.
- For 3-way: Replace one of your regular 3-way switches with the smart switch.
7. Mount the dimmer using the screws provided.
8. Attach the wallplate by snapping it onto the dimmer after it is screwed in.
9. Turn on the power. The light(s) may flash once during the smart dimmer's first-time power up.
10. Download the "Smart Life" or "Tuya" app from the app store or Android app store.
11. Register an account or log in if you already have a Smart Life account.
12. Connect with the dimmer by clicking "Add Device" or the "+" in the top right-hand corner of the app. Select "Electrical" and then "Dimmer Switch (Wi-Fi)".
13. Follow the quick configuration mode instructions by pressing and holding the switch button for 8 seconds to reset the dimmer and enter quick config mode. Select your home Wi-Fi, enter the password, and wait for the system to search for the device, connect, and configure the dimmer.
14. Once the device configures successfully, input your preferred name and select a location for the dimmer.
15. The dimmer can now be controlled through the app, allowing you to turn on and off the switch and control the brightness of the light. You can also set the brightness range and select the light type for maximum performance.
16. If you want to use voice control with Alexa or Google, follow the instructions in the manual to enable the Smart Life skill and link your account.
