To properly insert and adjust the SureFire EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus filtered Earplugs for a secure fit, follow these steps:
1. Starting with the EarLock® retention ring oriented slightly backward, rotate the earplug forward while inserting the stem of the red-filtered EP4 into the right ear canal deep enough for the uppermost flange to seal.
2. Fit the retention ring to the natural contour of the concha bowl surrounding the ear canal to lock the earplug in place.
3. Check the seal by placing your fingertip over the outer hole of the filter and then removing it. Detection of a slight suction indicates a proper seal.
4. Repeat the process with a white-filtered earplug for the left ear.
5. Test the earplugs by clapping, with the filter caps out. If there is no noticeable decrease in volume, reinsert and retest.
6. To block lower-level noise in quiet environments and maximize protection, insert the attached filter caps into the filter holes and push in until snug.
It is important to note that improper fit of the earplugs will reduce their effectiveness in attenuating noise. Follow the instructions for proper fit to ensure optimal protection.
