To change the backing pad on the DEWALT DWP849X Buffer Polisher, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the tool is disconnected from the power source before attempting any maintenance or adjustments.
2. Locate the spindle lock button on the top of the polisher, near the rear handle.
3. Press and hold the spindle lock button to lock the spindle in place.
4. Use the supplied wrench to loosen the spindle nut by turning it counterclockwise. The spindle nut is located on the bottom of the polisher, beneath the backing pad.
5. Once the spindle nut is loose, remove it completely by unscrewing it.
6. Carefully remove the old backing pad from the polisher's spindle.
7. Align the holes on the new backing pad with the threaded holes on the polisher's spindle.
8. Place the spindle nut back onto the spindle and tighten it by turning it clockwise with the wrench. Ensure that it is securely tightened.
9. Release the spindle lock button to unlock the spindle.
10. Your DEWALT DWP849X Buffer Polisher is now ready to use with the new backing pad.
