To install the Metra 107-GM5B Dash kit for Cadillac, follow these steps:
1. Start by disassembling the dash. Use a panel removal tool to carefully unclip and remove the trim panels from both sides of the center console. Remove the screws securing the padded trim and lower portion of the control panel. Gently unsnap and remove the u-shaped trim around the lower dash pocket. Remove the screws securing the radio chassis and slide the chassis out to unplug and remove the radio.
2. Prepare the kit components. Unsnap the top trim panel from the control panel and remove the factory screen and screen bezel. Remove the clock panel and control button panel by unscrewing the Phillips screws. Remove the inner housing by unscrewing the Phillips screws and unplug the lower climate controls.
3. Assemble the dash panel. Secure the 107-GM5B dash panel using factory screws. Cut off the top mounting legs from the main factory climate buttons and secure them using factory screws. Connect the lower climate controls, ensuring the keyways line up.
4. Install the radio. For ISO DDIN radios, secure the radio brackets to the radio using screws supplied with the radio. For Pioneer Modular DDIN radios, secure the display screen to the Pioneer display brackets using screws supplied with the radio. Connect the RGB extension cable to the display and secure the display screen assembly to the dash using factory screws. Secure the Pioneer chassis brackets to the radio chassis using screws supplied with the radio.
5. Install the Axxess interface. Connect the Axxess interface, car side harness, climate control T-harness, female 3.5mm jack, 16-pin harness with stripped leads, 4-pin to 4-pin resistor pad harness, and backup cam harness as indicated in the manual. Use a crimping tool and connectors, or solder gun, solder, and heat shrink for the connections. Tape, wire cutter, and zip-ties may be needed.
6. Program the interface. With the key in the off position, connect the harnesses into the Axxess interface and connect the climate control harness. Locate the factory antenna connector and complete all necessary connections to the radio. Start the vehicle and connect the car side harness to the wiring harness in the vehicle. Follow the programming steps in the manual to ensure successful programming.
7. Adjust chime and OnStar levels. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to adjust the chime level by turning the potentiometer clockwise or counterclockwise. To adjust the OnStar level, press the OnStar button and use the steering wheel controls or tap the Black/Yellow wire to ground.
8. Set steering wheel control settings. Follow the instructions in the manual to set the steering wheel control settings, including remapping buttons, dual assignment, and changing radio type if needed.
9. Complete the final assembly. Secure the radio/bracket assembly or Pioneer Modular DDIN assembly to the dash using factory screws. Reassemble the dash in the reverse order of disassembly.
