There are four options for controlling the stop and go lights on the B-TEK Scales LLC 8-inch LED Red / Green Traffic Signal.
Option 1: Single Switch
- Set the blue jumper on JP5 to 1 Switch.
- Connect a closed contact switch (SPST) between the GREEN and GND terminals on J2.
- The light will be green when the switch is open and red when the switch is closed. (Note: this can be reversed if the invert jumper is selected)
Option 2: Dual Switches
- Set the blue jumper on JP5 to 2 Switches.
- Connect two SPST switches or a DPTT(DP3T) switch between the GREEN, GND, and RED terminals on J2.
- The lights are normally on. When contact is made between GND and GREEN, the green light turns off. When contact is made between GND and RED, the red light turns off. (Note: this can be reversed if the invert jumper is selected)
Option 3: Proximity Detector
- Set the blue jumper on JP5 to Proximity.
- Use two normally open switches (or two normally closed switches if the invert jumper is selected), typically 12-volt photoeyes.
- When both switches are open, the GREEN light is on. When one switch is open and the other is closed, the RED light is on. When both switches are closed, the RED light flashes at a speed determined by the jumper selections on JP5.
Option 4: Serial Data
- Set the blue jumper on JP5 to RS232/422/485 or CLOOP, depending on the desired input.
- Set the blue jumper on JP5 to the desired baud rate (1200, 2400, 4800, or 9600).
- The lights are controlled by four ASCII characters. The character "R" turns the red light on and the green light off. The character "G" turns the green light on and the red light off. The character "O" turns both lights off. The character "B" turns both lights on. (Note: if a continuous data stream contains a "G" for gross, the light will always be green)
Please refer to the instruction manual for wiring diagrams and mounting dimensions specific to your model (8-inch or 3.5-inch).
