To change the door swing on your Maytag MED4500MW Electric Dryer, please follow the instructions below:
1. Place a towel on top of the dryer to protect the surface.
2. Open the dryer door and remove the bottom screws from the dryer cabinet side of the hinges. Loosen, but do not remove, the top screws from the dryer cabinet side of the hinges.
3. Lift the door until the top screws in the dryer cabinet are in the larger part of the hinge slot. Pull the door forward off the screws and set it (handle side up) on top of the dryer. Remove the top screws from the dryer cabinet.
4. Remove the screws attaching the hinges to the door.
5. Remove the screws at the top, bottom, and side of the door (4 screws) that hold the inner and outer door together. While holding the door over a towel on the dryer, grasp the sides of the outer door and lift to separate it from the inner door. Set the outer door aside. Note: Do not pry apart with a putty knife or screwdriver, and do not pull on the door seal or plastic door catches.
6. Remove the door catch, bezel, and plug from the inside of the inner door by squeezing and pulling/pushing them. Place the door catch, bezel, and plug on the sides opposite from where they were.
7. Rotate the outer door 180º and set it back down on the inner door. Reattach the outer door panel to the inner door panel so that the handle is on the side where the hinges were just removed. Insert the 4 door screws.
8. Flip the door over so that the handle side is down.
9. Reattach the door hinges to the dryer door so that the larger hole is at the bottom of the hinge.
10. Remove the door strike and door strike plug from the dryer cabinet. Insert the door strike into the door strike plug hole and secure it with a xxxx . Insert the door strike plug into the original door strike hole and secure it with a xxxx .
11. Use a small, flat-blade screwdriver to gently remove the 4 hinge hole plugs or covers on the left side of the dryer cabinet. Transfer the plugs or covers into the hinge holes on the right side of the dryer cabinet.
12. Insert screws into the hinge holes on the dryer cabinet. Tighten the screws halfway. Position the door so that the large end of the door hinge slot is over the screws. Slide the door up so that the screws are in the bottom of the slots. Tighten the screws. Insert and tighten the top screws in the hinges.
13. Close the door and check that the door strike aligns with the door catch. If needed, slide the door catch left or right within the slot to adjust the alignment.
