To use the NADAL Borreliosis AG Test to detect Borrelia antigens in ticks, follow these steps:
1. Remove the tick carefully, ensuring that the head is also removed. It is recommended to use the tick removal device provided.
2. Store the tick in the supplied specimen collection tube before starting the test. Testing the tick directly after removal yields the best results.
3. Thoroughly crush the tick using the supplied stick until the tick's colon is crushed and the liquid takes on color. Use both the sharp and dull sides of the stick for this purpose. Remove the stick after crushing the tick.
4. Open the foil pouch and remove the test cassette. Place it on a clean, flat surface.
5. Fill the pipette with the tick-buffer mixture, ensuring that no tick particles are taken up.
6. Add the tick-buffer mixture to the sample well of the test cassette, making sure not to add any tick particles that may obstruct the sample well.
7. The liquid will start to migrate along the internal test strip.
8. Read the test result after 10 minutes. Do not interpret the result after more than 20 minutes.
Result Interpretation:
- Positive: Two colored lines appear on the membrane. One line appears in the control line region (C) and the other line appears in the test line region (T). The line in the test line region (T) indicates the presence of Borrelia antigens in the tick. Even a weak test line should be interpreted as a positive result.
- Negative: Only one colored line appears in the control line region (C). No apparent colored line appears in the test line region (T). This indicates that no Borrelia antigens have been detected in the tick.
- Invalid: If the control line fails to appear, the test result is invalid. Repeat the test with a new test cassette.
Please note that the test is developed for the examination of small to medium-sized ticks (≤8 mm) only. It is important to carefully follow the instructions provided in the manual to ensure accurate test results.
