To connect the ALTAIRA Noise Reduction Grounding Hub to your components, follow these steps:
1. Determine the number of hubs needed: The ALTAIRA system is expandable and scalable, so you may need multiple hubs depending on the size and complexity of your system.
2. Select the appropriate hub model: There are two models available - the ALTAIRA Chassis Hub and the ALTAIRA Signal Hub. The Chassis Hub is suitable for simple systems with fewer than six components, while the Signal Hub is recommended for more complex systems or when separating digital and analog components.
3. Perform component continuity tests: Some components have dedicated ground terminals, while others may require alternative grounding methods. Use an ohm meter to test the continuity between the AC inlet ground pin and the component's chassis xxxx or signal connector. If the reading is less than 1 ohm, the component can be grounded using that connection point.
4. Determine hub location: Place the ALTAIRA hub near or on top of the preamplifier or integrated amplifier, as these components are typically centrally located in the system. Avoid placing the hub on top of tube-based equipment or in locations where it may block ventilation.
5. Establish an earth-ground reference connection: The ALTAIRA does not require an earth-ground connection to operate, but connecting it to an earth-ground reference will significantly improve performance. Use the dedicated ground terminal on your power conditioner if available, or use an AC socket ground adapter to tap into the AC wall socket's ground wire.
6. Complete the Cable Worksheet: Fill out the Cable Worksheet provided in the manual for each ALTAIRA hub in your system. This worksheet defines the components that will be connected to each hub and specifies the model, length, and termination of the ground cables.
7. Order hubs and cables: Once the Cable Worksheets are complete, order the necessary ALTAIRA ground hubs and ground cables based on the information provided in the worksheets.
8. Install the hubs and cables: Connect each component in your system to the designated ALTAIRA hub using the corresponding ground cables. Follow the instructions in the manual for proper cable routing and connection.
9. Interconnect multiple hubs (if applicable): If you have multiple ALTAIRA hubs, you can connect them by daisy-chaining them via the 7th terminal on each hub. Alternatively, you can connect each hub's 7th terminal to an earth-ground connection point, such as a ground terminal on a Shunyata power distributor.
10. Enjoy improved performance: The ALTAIRA hubs, combined with Shunyata Research's ground cables, will reduce ground-plane noise and improve the performance of your system. Experience enhanced detail, dynamics, tonal accuracy, and spatial dimensionality in your audio and video playback.
Please refer to the complete user guide provided by Shunyata Research for more detailed instructions and illustrations.
