The installation process for the CAL-ROYAL 500 Series Grade 1 Door Closer is outlined in the provided installation guide. Here are the steps you need to follow:
1. Determine the degree of opening you want for your door and use the corresponding template dimension provided in the guide.
2. Mark four holes on the door for the door closer and two holes on the frame for the arm shoe.
3. Drill pilot holes in the door and frame for #14 all-purpose screws or drill and tap for 1/4; 20 machine screws.
4. Install the adjustable forearm/arm shoe assembly to the frame using the provided xxxx .
5. Install the main arm to the top pinion shaft using the provided xxxx .
6. Mount the closer on the door using the provided screws. Make sure the spring power adjusting nut is positioned away from the hinge edge.
7. Adjust the length of the adjustable forearm so that it is perpendicular to the frame when assembled to the preloaded main arm. Secure the forearm to the main arm with the provided xxxx .
8. Snap the pinion cap over the shaft at the bottom of the closer. Note that the pinion cap is not necessary when using a full cover.
9. Adjust the closing speed, back check control, and spring power of the door following the instructions provided in the guide.
10. If necessary, use the 704 drop plate to accommodate the door closer body mounting.
