To program your Chamberlain 956EV 3-button remote control to work with your garage door opener, please follow the steps below:
1. Make sure that your garage door opener is compatible with the remote control. The Chamberlain 956EV remote control is designed for use with Chamberlain garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993, that operate on either 315 MHz or 390 MHz frequency.
2. Locate the Program button on the remote control. It is usually located on the front or side of the remote control.
3. Press and hold the Program button on the remote control until the LED on the front of the remote control turns on. This indicates that the remote control is in programming mode.
4. Press and release the button on the remote control that you wish to use to operate your garage door opener. The number of times you press this button should correspond with the type of garage door opener you have:
- For a garage door opener operating on 315 MHz frequency, press the button once.
- For a garage door opener operating on 390 MHz frequency, press the button twice.
5. To exit programming mode, press any button on the remote control except for the button that was just programmed.
6. On your garage door opener, locate the Learn button. It is usually located on the motor unit of the opener.
7. Press and release the Learn button on the garage door opener. The Learn LED on the opener will light up.
8. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote control that you programmed in step 4. Keep holding the button until the lights on the garage door opener flash or you hear two clicks. This indicates that the programming was successful.
9. To test the remote control, simply press the programmed button on the remote control. The garage door opener should activate and open or close the garage door.
Note: If you have multiple garage door openers, you can program up to three remote controls to work with each opener. However, only one remote control can be used at a time.
