The AudioControl AC-LGD Load Generating Device is designed to provide stability and noise filtering for OEM sound systems that require a speaker load. It is particularly useful for systems with Class D amplifiers, which can cause issues such as muting, distortion, or damaging frequencies when the factory speakers are removed.
The AC-LGD generates a load and stabilizes the signal from the factory system, ensuring optimal audio performance for your aftermarket equipment. By connecting your factory speaker signals to the AC-LGD, it helps to prevent any potential audio problems that may arise when upgrading your sound system.
To install the AC-LGD, follow these steps:
1. Remove one speaker-level input plug from your AudioControl active line output converter (LOC), processor, or amplifier.
2. Unplug one end of the AC-LGD and plug it into the LOC.
3. Install the plug you removed from the LOC to the open end of the AC-LGD.
4. Connect your factory speaker signals to the AC-LGD.
5. If you are using a LOC with different style connectors, unscrew the connectors from the AC-LGD wires and connect the wires accordingly.
It is important to note the following:
- Do not exceed 20 Vrms (100 watts) of input to prevent any potential damage.
- The operating impedance of the AC-LGD is 2 kΩ (20 Hz to 20 kHz) / 40 Ω (>20 kHz).
- Avoid installing the AC-LGD under carpet or near heat sources.
The package includes one pair of AC-LGDs prewired with EIA color-coded wires. Additionally, the manual humorously suggests that the AC-LGD can also be used as a charming bracelet.
