To clean and care for the steelite INTERNATIONAL 5700SX042 Deleca 12 Person Cutlery Set, follow these guidelines:
1. Pre-soak: After removing the flatware from the table, place it in a pre-soak solution recommended by the detergent manufacturer. Mix the pre-soak solution in warm water and use a plastic or stainless steel pan. Avoid using an aluminum pan as it can cause discoloration. Do not leave the flatware in the pre-soak solution for more than 30 minutes.
2. Washing (High Temperature): Wash the flatware immediately after removing it from the pre-soak. Use hot water and a good cleaning agent without abrasive or corrosive qualities. Avoid prolonged contact with dissimilar metals during washing. Ensure that the flatware is not packed too tightly in the washing canisters to ensure proper cleaning.
3. Rinsing: After washing, rinse the flatware in clean water of at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit and dry it immediately. Remove all wash water and rinse water from the flatware. You can add a wetting agent to the rinse water to prevent impurities from staining the flatware. If you have hard water, consider using a water softener. Keep knives separated in their own canister with the blades pointed down.
4. Handling: Use perforated cylinders in a portable rack suitable for sink or dishwasher use to minimize handling. If flatware is washed and stored in the same cylinder, sort the flatware into cylinders with the eating side down to prevent hand contamination after cleansing.
5. Low-Temperature Dishwashers: If using a low-temperature dishwasher, carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions for use with stainless steel. Improper rinsing or sanitizing can result in staining or corrosion.
6. Harmful Practices: Avoid soaking the flatware for too long, use recommended cleaners for stainless steel, and do not soak stainless steel in contact with aluminum or carbon steel. Avoid using cleaners intended for silverplate, chlorinated cleaners, salt water, chlorine bleach, or any material containing chlorine or chlorides. Do not pour detergents directly onto the flatware, and do not allow items to soak or remain wet or damp overnight. Avoid leaving food in contact with stainless steel overnight.
Remember, stainless steel is not completely stain-proof, and proper care and handling are essential to maintain its appearance and durability. If you encounter any specific cleaning problems, contact the detergent supplier, dishwasher representative, or water treatment representative for assistance.
