To clean your Hamilton Beach 47900 12-Cup Coffee Maker, follow these steps:
1. Cleaning the Inside of the Coffeemaker:
- Remove the optional water filter.
- Pour 1 pint (2 cups/500 ml) of vinegar into the water reservoir.
- Press the ON/OFF or BREW button to start the brewing cycle.
- After 20 seconds, turn off the coffeemaker and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Turn on the coffeemaker again and let it complete the brewing cycle.
- Once the cycle is finished and the coffeemaker has cooled, dispense several cups of water to rinse the reservoir.
2. Cleaning the Filter Basket and Coffee Tank:
- Remove the filter basket and coffee tank.
- Wash them by hand with warm, soapy water.
- The filter basket can also be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher.
- Clean the filter basket regularly to ensure optimal performance.
3. Cleaning the Outside of the Coffeemaker:
- Wipe the outside of the coffeemaker with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners that may scratch the finish of the product.
It is recommended to clean the coffeemaker at least once a month, or once a week if you have hard water. Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance and taste of your coffee.
