To connect your mobile device to the Rain Bird RC2 WiFi Smart Controller for the first time, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the WiFi signal strength is sufficient. Verify that your mobile device shows at least two bars of WiFi signal strength at the location of the controller. You can check this in the Rain Bird App by clicking the WiFi Signal Strength icon in your controller settings. Ideally, the controller should have a Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of -30 to -60. If the signal is weak, consider boosting it by adding a wireless router or moving the controller and router closer together.
2. If the controller is not connected to your mobile device and the STATUS on the controller interface is blinking blue, it means you need to connect your mobile device to the controller for the first time. Launch the Rain Bird App, tap the "Add Controller" icon, and follow the on-screen instructions to establish the connection.
3. If the controller is not connected to your mobile device and the STATUS on the controller interface is solid green, it means you need to connect your mobile device to the controller for the first time or reset the WiFi settings on the controller. To reset the WiFi, follow the "Reset only WiFi settings back to Quick Pair broadcast mode" instructions in the user guide.
4. If the controller was previously set up in AP Hotspot Mode by another user and the controller interface is blinking alternating red and green, and you want to connect to your WiFi network for the first time, you will need to reset the WiFi settings on the controller. Follow the "Reset only WiFi settings back to Quick Pair broadcast mode" instructions in the user guide.
5. If the controller is not connected to a mobile device and the STATUS on the controller interface is blinking red, press the PAIRING MODE button on the controller interface. Wait for the LED to start blinking blue (if a local network is available) or alternating red and green (if a local network is not available). Launch the setup wizard in the Rain Bird App by tapping the "Add Controller" icon and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you encounter any communication errors or issues, make sure to check your WiFi settings, close and reopen the Rain Bird App, and ensure that only one device is connected to the controller at a time. Additionally, for Apple iOS and Android devices, make sure that Location Services is enabled for the Rain Bird App.
