To set up the Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800 router, follow these steps:
1. Attach and position the antennas: Match the labels on the antennas with the labels on the router. Attach the antennas on the threaded antenna posts and position them vertically for the best WiFi performance.
2. Prepare your modem: Unplug your modem's power and remove the battery if it has one.
3. Connect your modem: Plug in your modem and put the battery back in. Use the Ethernet cable provided to connect your modem to the yellow Internet port on the router.
4. Power on the router: Connect the power adapter to the router and plug it into an outlet. Wait for the Power LED on the front panel to light amber and then turn white. If no LEDs are lit, press the Power On/Off button on the rear panel.
5. Connect a device: Use an Ethernet cable or WiFi to connect a device to the router. For WiFi connection, use the WiFi network name and password on the product label.
6. Log in to the router: Launch a web browser and enter www.routerlogin.net in the address field. When prompted, enter "admin" for the user name and "password" for the password. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the Internet.
7. Get free apps: During the installation process, you will be prompted to download two free apps - the genie app and the ReadySHARE Vault app. These apps allow you to monitor, control, and repair your home network, as well as enable automatic backup of a Windows computer to a USB storage device connected to the router.
For more detailed instructions and information, you can refer to the Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800 manual, which can be downloaded from the Netgear website or accessed through a link in the router's user interface.
