The WAHL 9916-4301 Beard Cordless Rechargeable Facial Hair Trimmer should be allowed to charge overnight before first use. This ensures that the battery is fully charged and ready for use. Simply connect the trimmer to the recharging transformer, plug the transformer into an electrical outlet, and make sure the trimmer is in the "OFF - 0" position while charging. The transformer is designed to continuously charge the battery without overcharging, so you can leave the trimmer connected to the transformer and plugged in when it is not in use to ensure maximum power is available for the next use.
