To install the Fantech RN1 - 4.5 Inline Radon Fan, follow these steps:
1. Before installation, make sure the power supply is disconnected and the electrical service to the fan is in the locked OFF position.
2. Ensure that installation, operation, and maintenance are done with safety precautions in mind, as the fan has rotating parts.
3. It is important to use the fan as intended by the manufacturer. If you have any questions, contact the manufacturer's representative or Fantech directly.
4. Prior to installation, switch off the power at the service panel and lock the service disconnection means to prevent accidental switching on of power. If locking is not possible, securely fasten a warning device, such as a tag, to the panel.
5. Installation work and electrical wiring should be done by qualified individuals in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
6. Follow the guidelines and safety standards provided by the heating equipment manufacturer, as the operation of this fan may affect the combustion airflow needed for safe operation of fuel burning equipment.
7. Take care not to damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities when cutting or drilling into walls and ceilings.
8. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
9. Check the voltage at the fan to ensure it corresponds to the motor nameplate.
10. This fan is designed for radon mitigation use only and should not be used to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.
11. Do not use solid-state speed control devices with these fans.
12. Install guards when the fan is within reach of personnel or within seven (7) feet of the working level, or when deemed advisable for safety.
13. The ducting from the fan to the outside of the building can affect the fan's performance, noise, and energy use. Use the shortest, straightest duct routing possible and avoid installing the fan with smaller ducts than recommended. Insulating the ducts can reduce energy loss and inhibit mold growth. Note that fans installed with existing ducts may not achieve their rated air flow.
