To install the BATH ROYALE BR631B Elongated Family Toilet Seat with Slow Close and Quick Release, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the mounting surface of the toilet is flat, clean, and dry with no chemical residue. You can use Windex or any glass cleaner to clean the mounting holes of the toilet.
2. Install the mounting bases on the toilet bowl by placing them over the holes with the posts facing the front of the bowl. Insert stainless steel washers into the mounting base slots and insert screws through the washers, mounting bases, and holes in the toilet.
3. Thread the gray split wing nuts all the way up the screws by turning the screws. Do not turn the wing nuts completely tight as the mounting bases must be able to move for attaching and adjusting the seat.
4. Rotate the mounting bases so that the posts are closest to the front of the bowl, not the tank. Use a tape measure or ruler to adjust the mounting bases so that the posts are approximately 5 ½ inches apart, which is the distance between the mounting holes in the seat. Loosen the screws if necessary.
5. Attach the seat using the Quick-Release mechanism. Carefully lower the seat (with holes) onto the mounting posts. If the posts are not perfectly aligned, adjust the seat or mounting bases so that both posts can be inserted at the same time. Push the seat down and jiggle it to ensure both posts are completely inserted.
6. Close the seat and lid. Tap the seat forward and let it close by itself. You can also push the seat and lid closed if needed.
7. Adjust the seat if necessary. If the mounting bases are tilting forward, push them down so that they sit flat on the bowl. With the lid closed, align the seat with the bowl by moving the seat and mounting bases together. It is recommended to install the seat overhanging the front of the bowl by ¼ inch for easier lifting without touching the toilet bowl.
8. Double-check the seat alignment and tighten the screws very firmly. Do not turn the wing nuts. If the xxxx heads are obstructed by the seat, remove the seat for final tightening.
9. Place the mounting base covers on the mounting bases. If desired, stainless steel covers in brushed nickel or polished chrome finishes are available separately.
10. Replace the seat by aligning the holes with the mounting posts and carefully lowering the seat onto the posts. Push down and jiggle to ensure both posts are completely inserted.
