To install the EMERSON RP3E Bettis RTS Relay Board Electric Actuator, please follow the steps below:
1. Before starting the installation, make sure to remove all power supplies and exercise caution throughout the process.
2. Gather the necessary tools and materials:
- Needle nose pliers
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flat screwdriver
- Allen key 5
- Socket wrench 5
- 1x relay board RP3E6A (ID:13009)
- 1x adapter cable (ID:16504)
- 2x steel xxxx M3x16 (ID:952)
- 3x plastic distance 8 mm (ID:9896)
- 1x plastic xxxx M3x15 (ID:9895)
- 1x plastic nut M3 (ID:7084)
- 2x lock plates M3 red (ID:13674)
3. Start by unscrewing the 4 hexagon socket screws from the cover and carefully remove it, taking note of the connection cable between the display and logic board.
4. Unscrew the 4 cross-recessed screws from the existing logic board and tilt it carefully towards you. Remove the connected cables, including the ribbon cable and 6-8-10-pole plugs.
5. Remove the logic board from the control unit and disconnect the 2nd ribbon cable on the back.
6. Remove the two steel distances marked with red arrows in the housing.
7. Place the plastic distances (8 mm) between the logic and relay board.
8. Insert the M3x16 steel screws through the estimated holes next to the multi-pin connector in the logic board, plastic distances, and relay board. Secure the screws with the red lock plates.
9. For the 3rd hole, use the plastic xxxx M3x15 and secure it with the plastic nut.
10. Connect the relay board with the multi-pin connector from the logic board, ensuring that 4 pins remain free as shown in Figure 9. The mounting holes of both boards should be in line.
11. Connect the adapter cable with the 10 and 6-pole connectors, and then connect the blue connectors with the corresponding ones on the relay board.
12. Connect both the ribbon cable and 8-pole connector with the logic board.
13. Install the logic + relay board back into the control unit, using the two small screws for the original installation.
14. Take care to avoid any damage to cables or other parts.
15. Connect the cable between the display cover and logic board.
16. Perform a firmware update before installing the display cover on the unit. This update is important for the following programming steps. Use FW version display 1507, logic 219 or higher. Refer to the separate manual for detailed instructions on how to perform a firmware update.
17. During the installation of the display cover, ensure that the O-ring sits correctly between the cover and housing. Fix it with the 4 hexagon socket screws.
18. To program the relay board, request the download of SMARTTOOL2 through your Sales Representative. After successful installation and registration, connect with the actuator.
19. Use the Wizard and choose the function "Install Extension Kit" and press "Apply". At the line "RP3E6A: 6x Relay Outputs, 3x Inputs", press "Apply" and confirm the installation by pressing "Ja".
20. After installation, press the "Refresh Button". In parameter groups "9. Bin. Input" and "10. Relay", you can define the functionality of the different relays.
