To connect the ST5-10-C Stepper Motor Driver to your computer, you will need the following equipment: a personal computer running Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT, XP, Vista, 7/8/10/11, the ST Configurator™ software (available at www.applied-motion.com), and an RS-232 Applied Motion programming cable (included).
Here are the steps to connect the driver to your computer:
1. Connect one end of the RS-232 programming cable to the RS-232 port on the ST5-10-C Stepper Motor Driver.
2. Connect the other end of the RS-232 programming cable to a USB port on your computer using a USB-to-Serial adapter if necessary.
3. Make sure the driver is not powered on yet.
4. Launch the ST Configurator™ software on your computer by clicking Start/Programs/Applied Motion Products/ST Configurator.
5. Apply power to the driver.
6. In the ST Configurator™ software, you can now configure the motor current, load inertia, limit switches, and encoder functionality (if applicable) for the ST5-10-C Stepper Motor Driver.
7. Once the configuration is complete, exit the ST Configurator™ software. The driver will automatically switch to CANopen Mode.
