To install the Motive 3015 Vehicle Gateway Cable, follow these steps:
Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is safe to install the Motive Vehicle Gateway. Make sure the parking brake is engaged, the engine is off, and the main power switch (if available) is turned off.
Step 2: Locate the OBD-II port. This port is typically located on the driver's side under the steering wheel column or occasionally under the passenger dash panel. You can visit the provided link (https://bit.ly/2Q2BtZM) to find the specific location of the OBD-II port for your vehicle.
Step 3: Connect and secure the OBD-II end of the Motive cable to the vehicle's OBD-II port. Use the provided zip ties to secure the cables. Attach the 15-pin connector to the Vehicle Gateway and secure it using the thumbscrews. Clean the mounting area using the provided alcohol swabs. Remove the backing from the adhesive strip on the back of the Vehicle Gateway and attach it to the mounting area. It is recommended to install the Vehicle Gateway near the windshield, away from vents, electrical components, and at least 12 inches away from any metal components. Alternatively, you can install it in the wheel well, ensuring all cabling and devices are secured to avoid interfering with the safe operation of the vehicle.
Step 4: Once plugged in, the indicator lights on the Vehicle Gateway will flash momentarily before turning solid red. After approximately one minute, the left-side indicator light will turn green, indicating a successful GPS/GNSS connection. Please note that GPS/GNSS performance may degrade if the Vehicle Gateway does not have a clear line of sight to the sky.
Step 5: To connect to the Vehicle Gateway, download and install the Motive Electronic Logbook App on your iOS or Android device. Once connected, the right-side indicator light on the Vehicle Gateway will turn green, indicating a successful Bluetooth connection.
