To wire the Applied Motion Products STM23/24 Integrated Steppers to the DC power source, follow these steps:
Step 1: Gather the required equipment, including a small flat blade screwdriver (included), a personal computer running Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT, XP, Vista or 7/8/10/11, ST Configurator™ software (available at www.applied-motion.com/products/software), and the appropriate programming cable or adapter for your PC.
Step 2: Before applying power, make sure all connections to the drive have been made. The STM23 and STM24 accept DC voltages from 12-70V. If using an external fuse, it is recommended to use a 3AG, 4 amp fuse for STM23 and a 3AG, 5 amp fuse for STM24. Refer to the product hardware manual for more information on power supply and fuse selection.
Step 3: Download and install the ST Configurator™ software from the Applied Motion Products website. Launch the software and select the correct COM port from the drop-down list. Connect the drive to your PC using the RS-232 programming cable or RS-422/485 adapter.
Step 4: Apply power to the drive. The drive model and firmware revision should be automatically displayed. If not, check the COM port setting.
Step 5: Follow the configuration instructions in the ST Configurator™ help screens. The software allows you to set up your drive to operate in various modes, such as Pulse & Direction, Analog Velocity, and SCL. The ST Configurator™ also includes a self-test option under the Drive menu to verify correct wiring and configuration of the STM and power supply.
