To install and set up the REDBACK A 1717 Message Player, please follow these steps:
1. Power Requirements: The A 1717 requires a minimum of 24VDC at 300mA to work correctly. Connect the power supply to the 24V DC input on the rear of the unit or via the euro block terminals.
2. Output: Connect the stereo RCA connectors on the rear of the unit to the output amplifier.
3. Input Triggers: The input triggers are activated by closing contacts on the rear of the unit. Connect the triggers to a normally open switch, timer, or controller.
4. Switched Output: The switched output terminal is triggered when any message is active. Connect the switched output to your desired device using the pluggable 12-30VDC switched output terminals.
5. Play Modes: The A 1717 offers two play modes - Alternate and Momentary.
- Alternate Mode: In this mode (DIP1 switch1 OFF), the closing contact must be held for the duration of the MP3 play time. If the contact is released before the MP3 ends, the playback will stop immediately. If the contact is held closed continually, the MP3 will loop over and over until the contact is released.
- Momentary Mode: In this mode (DIP1 switch1 ON), a momentary closing contact or pulse on the trigger pins will activate the MP3. The MP3 will play until it finishes and then wait for another trigger activation. To stop an MP3 playing in Momentary mode, use the Cancel trigger by closing the contact for up to 2 seconds.
6. Front Panel Connections: The front panel of the A 1717 includes a volume control, message active indicators, DIP switches for various options, a Micro SD card slot, and a power LED.
7. Rear Panel Connections: The rear panel includes a 24V DC input for power supply, pluggable 12-30VDC switched output terminals, message triggers, and RCA stereo line outputs.
8. Installing MP3 Files: To install MP3 files, remove the Micro SD card from the front of the unit and connect it to a PC or laptop equipped with a Micro SD card reader. Open the Micro SD card folder, delete the existing MP3 file in the desired trigger folder, and replace it with your chosen MP3 file. Make sure the new MP3 file is not set to Read Only. Insert the Micro SD card back into the A 1717.
