Cleaning the nebulizer and mouthpiece of the INVACARE IRC1001 Envoy Jr Aerosol Compressor is an important maintenance task to ensure proper functioning and hygiene. Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to clean these components:
1. Remove the nebulizer and mouthpiece from the tubing.
2. Disassemble the nebulizer chamber by turning it counterclockwise and separating the parts.
3. Fill two plastic containers or bowls:
a. Washing: Prepare a hot water and detergent solution.
b. Soaking: Prepare a hot water and vinegar solution (one part vinegar to three parts water).
4. Thoroughly clean the nebulizer and mouthpiece in the hot water and detergent solution.
5. Remove the components from the water and detergent solution and rinse them with clear hot tap water.
6. Soak the nebulizer and mouthpiece in the hot water and vinegar solution for 30 minutes.
7. Rinse the components with hot tap water again and air dry them thoroughly.
8. If using medical disinfectant cleaners, follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
9. Keep the outer surface of the tubing dust-free by wiping it regularly.
It is important to note that the nebulizer air tubing does not need to be washed internally as only filtered air passes through it. Regular cleaning of the nebulizer and mouthpiece, as well as the foam intake filter, is necessary to ensure proper compressor performance and hygiene.
