There are two options to enable and configure GPS data collection on your ZEBRA VisibilityIQ GPS Data Collection device.
Option 1: Enable and configure GPS using configuration barcodes
1. Ensure that the device has network connectivity (WWAN or WLAN).
2. Make sure the device can access the internet by opening a browser and navigating to a website like google.com.
3. Open StageNow on the device.
4. Scan the appropriate barcodes using StageNow.
5. Verify the success message in StageNow.
6. The device should now be collecting and sending GPS data.
Option 2: Enable and configure GPS using an XML file
1. Obtain a configuration XML file.
2. Deploy the XML file using a tool authorized with the Zebra MX framework, such as an MDM or StageNow.
3. Additionally, enable the GPS functionality on the device by going to Settings > Location.
4. Toggle the "Use Location" button to ON.
5. Click on "Advanced" > "Google Location Accuracy" > "Improve Location Accuracy" and toggle the button to ON.
The ZDS config file package includes barcode files and XML files for different collection intervals (e.g., every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, every hour). If you require a different GPS data collection interval, please escalate the request to the L3 team by opening a service request ticket.
