To connect the AMICOOL BT686 External DVD Drive to your computer, follow these steps:
1. Use a standard USB data cable to connect the drive to a USB port on your computer.
2. Once connected, the computer should display a device icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Click on the desktop and open "My Computer" (or "This PC" on newer Windows versions).
4. Look for the drive icon under "Mobile Storage Device" in "My Computer".
5. Click on the drive icon to access and read the CD/DVD.
Note: For desktop computers, it is recommended to connect the USB cable to the USB interface at the back of the computer host rather than the front one. Avoid using USB hubs or other devices to connect the CD drive directly. Also, ensure that your computer has sufficient power supply and capacity to recognize the device.
For Apple laptops, use a cable-free transfer method instead of using a cable. Both USB 3.0 and Type-C interfaces are supported by this product and can be plugged in and played.
If your computer does not automatically detect the DVD drive, you may need to download the driver. However, most older operating systems should be able to recognize the drive through direct installation or external connection.
If you encounter any issues, make sure your computer has downloaded the CD/DVD driver before using the drive. If the driver is not available, you can request the download link from the manufacturer. Additionally, ensure that your laptop has sufficient capacity and consider installing VLC Media Player if you are using Windows 10 or above to play DVDs and CDs.
Remember not to place the drive on an unstable surface or near strong magnetic objects. Keep the product steady on the desktop and avoid looking directly at the inner laser light source. Also, avoid squeezing the drive in vulnerable places to ensure normal use.
