The Leviton C0945 Zigbee BLE Module should be placed and connected on your PCB following the guidelines provided in the instruction manual. Here are the recommended steps:
1. Module Dimensions: The module has fixed dimensions, and no outside changes are permitted. You can refer to the 'B9604module.dxf' file for the footprint.
2. Module Connections: It is recommended to use the recommended module land pattern and place the module along the PCB edge. Ensure that the area under the antenna is clear of any copper. Avoid placing vias under the module as they may cause problems. Also, do not route traces on the PCB layer directly under the module.
3. Module Placement: Follow the recommended module placement on the host board as specified in the manual.
4. Antenna: The module comes with a chip antenna design that follows the specifications provided. The signal line between the PCB and the antenna is a 50-ohm line design. Fine-tuning of return loss can be performed using a matching network, but it is necessary to check "Class1 change" and "Class2 change" defined by the authorities. The concrete contents of the check include ensuring that the antenna gain is lower than the specified gain in the antenna specifications and that the emission level is not getting worse. 5. Bill Of Materials: The internal antenna requires specific tuning values. The manual provides the tuning values for components such as inductors, capacitors, resistors, and the chip antenna. Make sure to include these components in your design.
6. Warning: The module has fixed antenna tuning values and is intended for Leviton's use only. Third-party or outside customers are not allowed to change the antenna tuning values unless consulted and approved by the module manufacturer. If any changes are made, the third party or outside customer must perform the necessary filing and testing to prove regulatory compliance.
