To assemble the Sealey SGA1 Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting Set, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the cylinders: Ensure that the cylinders are safe and properly secured. Crack each cylinder valve to clear any dust or foreign bodies.
2. Connect the gas regulators to the cylinders: Attach the oxygen and acetylene regulators to the appropriate cylinders. Make sure the inlet filters are in place and not blocked or contaminated. Wipe the fittings with a clean, dry lint-free cloth before attaching the gauges. Tighten the unions using a wrench.
3. Connect the flash arrestors and hoses to the gas regulators: Connect the blue, oxygen flash arrestor to the outlet on the oxygen regulator, and connect the red, acetylene flash arrestor to the outlet on the acetylene regulator. Then, connect the corresponding hoses to the flash arrestors. Tighten all nuts securely with a wrench.
4. Blow out the hoses: Prior to attaching the torch, blow out both hoses to eliminate any particles or debris. Turn the oxygen or acetylene regulator adjusting xxxx clockwise to allow 5psi to pass through the hose. Allow the gas to flow for approximately 10 seconds to purge each hose in turn.
5. Assemble the torch for welding: xxxx the chosen welding nozzle into the welding attachment and fully tighten it down. xxxx the welding attachment with the nozzle attached onto the torch handle. Before fully tightening the ribbed nut, check the orientation of the gas valve knobs and adjust if necessary. Fully tighten the ribbed nut.
6. Assemble the torch for cutting: Loosen and remove the nut that holds the cutting nozzle in place. Slide the chosen cutting nozzle through the nut and xxxx the assembly into the cutting attachment. Fully tighten it down. xxxx the cutting attachment with the nozzle attached to the torch handle. Before fully tightening the ribbed nut, adjust the orientation of the gas valve knobs so that they do not block the movement of the lever.
7. Connect the non-return valves and hoses to the torch: Fit the non-return valves provided to the torch before connecting the respective hoses. The oxygen non-return valve has a normal thread and should be fitted to the blue-coded side of the torch. The acetylene non-return valve has a reverse thread and should be fitted to the red-coded side of the torch. Connect the two hoses to the respective non-return valves fitted to the torch handle.
Once the torch is assembled, you can proceed with the welding or cutting operations. Remember to always perform a leak test on all connections and valves prior to each use of the equipment.
