Cleaning your Hamilton Beach 49981A Scoop Single Serve Coffee Maker is important to maintain its performance and ensure the best-tasting coffee. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to clean the coffee maker:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool before cleaning.
2. Wash all removable parts, including the Removable Water Reservoir, Hinged Lid, The Scoop®, Grounds Catcher, and Drip Tray Cover, in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry them thoroughly. Note that the Removable Water Reservoir is not dishwasher-safe, but the other parts can be placed in the dishwasher's top rack.
3. Wipe the outside of the coffee maker with a damp cloth or sponge. Make sure to dry it afterwards.
4. For monthly cleaning, create a cleaning solution by mixing 1/2 cup (125 mL) of plain white vinegar and 1/2 cup (125 mL) of cold water. Pour this solution into the Water Reservoir.
5. Place a travel mug on the Drip Tray Cover.
6. Plug the coffee maker into an outlet and press the (ON/OFF) Button once. After 30 seconds, press the Button again to turn off the coffee maker.
7. After 30 minutes, press the (ON/OFF) Button to finish the brewing cycle.
8. Empty the travel mug and clean it.
9. Before brewing another pot of coffee, run one cycle with clean water to remove any vinegar taste or smell.
10. Regularly clean the coffee maker at least once a week or more frequently if used frequently.
